A little while ago, I purchased a Leica 50mm Summilux ASPH lens to pair it with my Leica M3 35mm film camera. I love shooting black and white film using that combo because of the classic visual feel to it. Perhaps I've been deeply influenced by the work of Henri Cartier-Bresson or Elliott Erwitt since my youth, that I'm naturally inclined to see the world of 50mm in black and white. Regardless, this allows me to use my Leica M-A with color film stocks, and I'm happy with that configuration.
The following shots were taken on a wintery night on the streets of Downtown Montreal using one of my favorite 35mm black and white film stock: Kodak Tri-X 400. I rated the film at ISO 1600 and (literally) went to town with it. The negatives were developed and scanned by Kant Photo Studio in Montreal, and they pushed the film by 2 stops during development.
All these photographs were shot at f/1.4 and 1/30th of a second.
